The Consistent State Database Health Check is a fixed cost package that includes a detailed analysis of the customer’s database instance. This analysis data is reviewed correlated to expose negative patterns and a set of recommendations are presented in a final report.
A lightweight set of data collection processes are installed and configured. These processes push data to a secure sftp server within the CS network so only minimal data storage needs are required on the client server. The next step is an analysis of the application(s) and end user patterns per database usage. In this phase we identify the normal application usage patterns, gain an understanding of the database architecture and analyze the intersection of the two components based on best practices, database design standards and our experience as PostgreSQL Professionals.
The system architecture is examined in light of best practices and our experience as PostgreSQL Professionals. We examine the system database and query activity which allows us to present recommendations that will streamline critical database usage areas. The last step is to compile all of our collected data, review the results as a team and prepare the final report. In this phase we shut down the data collection tools we installed in days 1 & 2, gather / compile all the information we collected and analyzed for the past 8 days and prepare it for a team review by the CS staff. Once the CS staff review is complete we compile the final report and organize the final recommendations. The final recommendation report is then presented to the client along with scope/cost estimates (and options) for implementing the recommendations. This allows the client to easily make an informed decision per what to tackle in house and what they may want us to assist with.
Costs The Complete Health Check engagement is fixed at a cost. This includes all the needed CS resources, time and needed travel expenses to complete the full 10 day engagement and compile / present the final report – no surprises. Additional engagements may come from the recommendations in the final report at the clients discretion.
